Background

Hen Fetsch’s Pandora Spirit Cabinet, distributed by UF Grant is a vintage magic trick that was released by U.F. Grant and has a variety of possible effects. The effect involves a small, open-framework box with a sliding panel, through which a rope is threaded. Many different objects can be used in the box, such as a playing card or a ring.

The Hen Fetsch Pandora Spirit Cabinet, often associated with MAK Magic (and originally a U.F. Grant release), is a classic stage or parlor magic prop designed to perform various “spirit” manifestations on a miniature scale.

The Magic Effect

• The Transformation: A rope is threaded through the cabinet. The performer shows the cabinet is empty and lifts the panel. A playing card (or a borrowed ring) is tossed into the box.
• The Revelation: When the panel is raised again, the card or ring is found to be impossibly threaded onto the rope.

MAK Magic Background:

• Founder: U.F. Grant was a legendary magic creator and the mastermind behind MAK Magic. He was known for producing a vast number of magic effects and methods throughout his career.
• Era: The company was most active in the 1970s and 1980s, producing a wide array of colorful boxed tricks that were popular in magic shops.
• Collectibles: Since U.F. Grant’s death in 1978, many MAK Magic items have become collector’s pieces, with some considered more desirable and higher quality than later, imported versions.

Condition

The Pandora Spirit Cabinet box can be shown to an audience with a rope threaded through the box and an object like a playing card placed inside. The panel is lifted, and when it is lifted again, the card is now seen to be threaded onto the rope, as if by “spirits”.

Very rare, vintage and scarce magic effect by MAK Magic. You will not find this for sale very often.
