U.F. Grant Helium Glass
Rare, New Old Stock!
If you’re a U.F. Grant / MAK Magic collector chances are you’ve never seen this very scarce magic trick effect. The U.F. Grant Helium Glass is a classic magic effect where a simple plastic tumbler appears to float mid-air while the magician pours a beverage into the glass. If you recognize the description, yes this is a vintage U.F. Grant smaller version of the Airbourne Glass. This works under the same principal of the full-size traditional stationary (non-electronic) Airbourne Glass.
In my research this wasn’t a popular item within the U.F. Grant catalogs, I could only locate two references, neither displayed a picture. The scarcity of this U.F. Grant was most likely due to the competition of the Airbourne Glass.
A rare collectible effect to ADD to your magic trick collection!
Background
Ulysses Frederick Grant (January 12, 1901 – March 1, 1978), affectionately known in the magic community as “Gen” or “The Little General,”. Additionally, Grant was one of the most prolific American magic inventors, manufacturers, and authors of the 20th century. Descended from President Ulysses S. Grant, he created over 1,000 magic tricks during his lifetime, ranging from close-up card miracles to massive stage illusions. Furthermore, rather than achieving fame purely as a stage performer, Grant’s lasting legacy lies in his brilliant mind for methods and his commercial firm, U.F. Grant Magic, which later evolved into MAK Magic and continues to manufacture his classic effects today.
