It documents the “Hugard Rising Cards” routine, which explains how to build a reliable mechanism using a simple piece of household sewing thread. It also features variation handlings like Jack McMillen’s impromptu Plunger Rising Card. 
  • “Card Manipulations” (No. 1–5): Includes the routine “And yet again—The Rising Cards”. This booklet details impromptu, sleight-of-hand variations and structural routines designed to perform the rise using a regular, un-gimmicked deck of cards. 

Mechanical Method

• The Thread Gimmick: A classic stage or parlor method where a fine thread is woven between the cards. Pulling the slack—either manually or using a weighted anchor—causes the chosen cards to rise smoothly from the center of the pack.

Acquisition Details 

The Hugard Rising Cards comes complete with two glasses (actual glass), gimmicked deck (blue back) and original instructions and box for easy storage. The effect seems to function as expected.
