The Crash Glass Vanish by Louis Tannen is a vintage magic trick prop sold by Louis Tannen’s Magic Shop, a historic institution in New York City founded by Louis Tannen in 1925.

The Magic Trick

The effect, which dates to circa 1955, is a classic liquid and glass vanish.

Effect: Water is poured from a cocktail shaker into a glass. The glass is then half-covered by a copper tube. The moment a handkerchief is placed over the tube, the glass of water completely vanishes.
Prop Details: The trick relies on a specific gimmick (often made of celluloid in vintage models) to achieve the vanishing effect. Vintage examples of the prop are occasionally sold at magic auctions.

Prop Effect

Water is poured from a cocktail shaker into a glass, which is half-covered by a copper tube. The glass then vanishes from the tube the moment it is covered by a handkerchief.

Height of shaker 7”, included rubber insert in good condition, celluloid gimmick yellowed. Includes original instructions.
