The Magical Effect

• The Setup: A wooden block representing a “vampire” is lowered into a decorative, stenciled wooden column or tube representing a tomb.
• The Lock: A solid metal spike, sword, or wooden stake is pushed horizontally straight through the center of the outer tube and the block, clearly pinning it in place. 
• The Escape: Despite being impaled and locked by the blade, the magician grabs a metal chain attached to the top of the block and cleanly pulls it up and out of the tube. The block escapes completely unharmed, and the blade remains undisturbed through the empty tube.
