The Quick as a Wink Effect

1. The Setup: The magician pours a drink (like soda or milk) into a glass, toasts the crowd, and drinks it. 
2. The Test: After wiping the glass dry, two half-dollar coins are dropped inside. The magician shakes the glass so the audience can clearly hear and see them rattle against the bottom. 
3. The Trap: The coins are poured out, and an 18-inch silk handkerchief is draped over the mouth of the glass. The coins are dropped back onto the silk, pushing it down to the bottom of the glass. The remaining fabric is tucked entirely inside. 
4. The Penetration: Instantly, the magician pulls the silk and the coins straight through the solid glass bottom. The performer holds the coins securely wrapped inside the silk, leaving the glass completely unharmed.
