Overview – MAK Magic Deceptive Square Circle 

The MAK Magic Deceptive Square Circle is a classic stage magic production prop used to produce large quantities of items—such as silks, scarves, or spring animals—from an apparently empty box and tube. It is considered one of MAK Magic’s finest manufactured pieces and utilizes a “black art design” that remains deceptive even under strong lighting or from as close as 24 inches away.

Performance Effect

1. The magician displays the square chest and the circular tube, showing both to be completely empty.
2. The tube is placed inside the chest, and the audience can clearly see the tube through the front grillwork or mesh window.
3. The magician then reaches into the empty tube and produces a massive volume of items, limited only by the size of the secret compartment.
4. Both the tube and chest can be shown empty again at any time during the performance. 

Market Availability

• New/Modern Alternatives: While the original MAK Magic version is widely considered discontinued, similar “Professional Square Circles” from manufacturers like Magic Makers are currently available for approximately $250 to $300.
• Vintage/Used: Original MAK Magic units appear on the secondary market (Etsy, eBay, or magic estate sites) with prices ranging from $195 up to $250 depending on the condition and specific vintage model.

Core Illusion and Components

• The Chest (Square): A decorative square box, typically 13 inches high and approximately 7.5 to 9 inches square, featuring a front window with anodized aluminum grillwork or mesh.
• The Tube (Circle): A cylindrical tube that fits inside the chest.
• The Gimmick: remains hidden from the audience’s view.
• The Base: A flat wooden or black base upon which the illusion sits

Acquisition Details

Authentic vintage magic apparatus, original to the 1970’s decade for MAK Magic versions, reviewing the included pictures will show the wear from age and performance. Imperfections include a paint chipping on the rear of the inner core genii decorated tube as pictured. The base is missing one of the small rubber feet on which the base rests on.
