UF Grant Nite Club Dove Vanish

This is a very rare original UF Grant early 1940’s circa model and design long before the MAK Magic version.

Background

The UF Grant Nightclub Dove Vanish (often spelled “Nite Club Dove Vanish”) is a classic stage illusion where a live dove or small animal is placed inside a decorated box, which is then dismantled piece by piece to reveal the animal has completely disappeared.

Core Effect & Handling

• The Disappearance: The magician places the dove into the box resting on a thin base. The box is taken apart side-by-side until nothing is left.
• The Sucker Finish: Audiences often suspect the animal is hidden in the box; to prove them wrong, the magician takes the entire box apart as well, showing the dove has truly vanished.
• Versatility: While designed for doves, other small birds or objects can be used.
• Portability: Most versions are made from lightweight plywood and are designed to “pack flat” for easy transport between shows.

History and Availability

• Original Creator: U.F. Grant (Ulysses Frederick Grant) was a prolific magic inventor and founder of Grant’s Magic (which later became MAK Magic).
• Vintage Versions: A “Junior” version was manufactured in the 1940s during Grant’s partnership with R.N. Menge. Authentic vintage MAK Magic units are highly sought after by collectors.

Details

Dove Vanish box measures roughly 13.5″ length, 9″ wide, and about 6″ high. For its age this is still in very collectible condition ready for your display shelf or performance. In terms of age and use, this prop has imperfections, signs of aging wood. Highly recommend reviewing the pictures for visual understanding of the condition and aging of the prop.
