U.F. Grant Magic Potato Box

• Design: A decorative wooden chest divided into two sections (top and bottom) with a removable front cover.
• Function: It is designed to secretly load a borrowed item into a potato previously placed inside the box.
• Variants: Early versions are often found in a distinctive red finish with vintage MAK Magic branding. 

The UF Grant Potato Box Effect

1. Preparation: A wooden box is shown empty or contains a simple potato.
2. The Vanish: The magician borrows a small valuable item, typically a ring, from an audience member and causes it to vanish.
3. The Reveal: The magician opens the box to reveal a potato. When the potato is cut open or inspected, the borrowed ring is found embedded deep inside it.

Background

Ulysses Frederick Grant (1901–1978), widely known as U.F. “Gen” Grant, was a prolific American magic inventor, author, and manufacturer who became one of the most influential figures in 20th-century magic. He is often cited as having invented over 1,000 magic tricks during his lifetime.
