Historical Iconic Performances – A Little History…Just Because!

  • Harry Houdini’s Escapes: Active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Houdini became a legend for his death-defying escape acts, most notably the Water Torture Cell and the Vanishing Elephant illusion.
  • P.T. Selbit’s Sawing a Person in Half: First performed in 1921, this classic illusion set the gold standard for stage magic and has been a staple of magician performances ever since.
  • David Copperfield’s Disappearing Statue of Liberty: In 1983, Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty vanish on live television, a feat of grand stagecraft that captured worldwide attention.
